Graviola, soursop is a 5-6 m small tree with dark green leaves and large edible fruits originating from South America. For centuries, South America indigenous people have used all parts of the Graviola tree as a natural medicine for various illnesses.
According to history, after Columbus discovered the Americas, this plant was bought to the Asian continent. The tree grows well in all of Indonesia and the Dutch loved the delicious sour fruit, calling it "Zuurzak".
Many bioactive compounds and phytochemicals have been found in Graviola as scientists have studied its properties since the 1940's. But in 1976, research done by the National Cancer Institute, USA, found that the Graviola leaves contain a novel group of phytochemicals called Annonaceous Acetogenins, these have demonstrated significant anti-tumorous and anti-cancerous properties, without harming healthy cells by decreasing the energy level of the cancer cells, an ATP inhibitor.
The traditional way of administering the plant is boiling the Graviola (sirsak) leaves with water. However a more modern and effective method is using Graviola leaf extract, Grav-X® to obtain a precise and safe dosage form.
Phytochemindo has developed Grav-X®, a proprietary branded standardized plant extract with a high content of acetogenins drom selected Graviola leaves. Being a native plant of Indonesia Grav-X® is manufactured using selected raw materials from native Indonesian trees in our WHO GMP certified extraction plant.
