Launching a High-Quality Product, PT Phytochemindo Reksa Collaborates with Universitas Indonesia, HDI, and LPDP

On February 6, 2025, PT Phytochemindo Reksa (Phytochemindo) announced its role in the development and production of a locally sourced propolis-based product called Propolisul. This is the first propolis extract product supported by the government and is the result of a strategic collaboration between Universitas Indonesia (UI), PT HDI, PT Phytochemindo Reksa, and the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP).

Propolisul, made from stingless bee propolis from Sulawesi, contains newly identified bioactive compounds Sulawesin A and Sulawesin B, which have been proven to support metabolic health and combat oxidative stress. This product is the result of extensive research conducted by Dr. Muhamad Sahlan and the research team from FTUI since 2011.

As the primary industry partner in this project, PT Phytochemindo Reksa is responsible for the extraction, formulation, and production of Propolisul, utilizing facilities that are Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Halal, and BPOM certified. The innovative encapsulation technology used in the production process ensures the stability and effectiveness of the propolis' bioactive compounds.

The official launch of Propolisul was held at the Science Techno Park UI building, attended by UI Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Hamdi Muluk, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UI, Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, CEO & Chairman of PT HDI, Brandon Chia, and President Director of PT Phytochemindo Reksa, Patrick Kalona.

On this occasion, Patrick Kalona expressed that the company’s involvement in this project reflects its commitment to supporting research-based innovation and the empowerment of Indonesia’s herbal industry.
"We are proud to collaborate in the development of Propolisul, which not only provides health benefits to the public but also supports the local herbal industry ecosystem, particularly stingless bee farmers in Sulawesi. By combining scientific research with high-quality production standards, we hope this product can compete in the global market," said Patrick Kalona.
